The y-axis represents genome-wide distance between populations (measured from genome-wide allele frequencies). Ashkenazi Jews cluster with the Spanish cases, the Italian cases, and the Italian controls, as seen on the right. On the left, a large cluster of western European cases and controls from France, Belgium, Germany, Australia, United States, and the United Kingdom. In the center, a cluster of northern European countries includes Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Germany. Two Finnish populations cluster tightly together. Three groups of relatively small sample size cluster loosely including groups from Poland, Norway, and Ireland. For countries with two sets of controls (UK, Germany, Sweden), the cohort names are provided in parentheses [6]
